A Waltz I Dragged Out of Myself One Night

--

By Chick OrlandoPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

You can wait all day for inspiration

You can wait all year for a kiss

You can wait a lifetime to get what you want

But you'll never get back this

You can dance in the falling gold of it all coming true

Or you can almost start to weep sitting against the door in your room

Christmas is every year, it has a definite date

For other things you want in life, you'll always have to wait

You might be punished by drags and delays

Though you work so hard, all your nights and days

It's hard to keep going when it all seems so far

But think of how brightly shine do the starts

They never turn off they never even blink

They shine when you're wired and when you're too tired to think

Now it's so damn late you should just go to sleep

But you've just got to write down the thoughts that you keep

They sit in the back of your head all day

There are ones that roam and there are ones that stay

So get them all out, written and published fast

Because you need proof of others to know they'll last

But you start to think that you've really no clue

No idea what to write, no idea what to do

It all seems impossible, but that's the ride

Life has no reason

Except for the reason

That you

Decide
