Due to the rapid increase in COVID numbers, my boys and I decided we would head to the Mooloolaba Beach on the Sunshine Coast today. We figured we would be safer in the outdoors. I would love to share our outing with you.

The perfection of the crystal blue of the sky
Tufts of pristine white clouds in the distance,
The swish of the water as the waves crash in
Eroding away the rocks with its persistence.

The gentle blowing of the cool sea breeze
Reducing the hot temperatures of the day,
Jagged rocks scattered amid beach sand
The sun shining upon with its glorious rays.

Small white crested waves crashing ashore
Like long forgotten music attuned to my ears,
Aqua blue / green water for as far as I can see
Natural tides rise and fall, through the years.

At the merging of the horizon of sea and sky
The never ending blues merge into one,
The blue of the sky and the blue of the water
Mother Nature in her glory, never to be outdone.

The greenery of the moss covered rocks
A contrasting beauty all of its very own,
Competing with the water and white sand
Hugging the rocks tenaciously as it has grown.

Australians flock to the beaches in summer
It’s an intricate part of our culture and lifestyle,
The perfect place to spend a summer day
A quick dip, sun bath or walk and stay awhile.

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
