If I could venture backwards in time
and see history made anew,
the first atom smashed,
Edison’s lightbulb,
witness the Promethean gift of fire,
I would say no to them all
to revisit any of a thousand different
remembered moments with you.

Oh damn, sir. my romantic old romantic heart loves every single word of this. Too short in my opinion, but also just the right length! Well done sir!
Such a beautiful poem… with a surprising twist for its conclusion ✅.
Just stunning! Really loved this one, John! Would have made a killer entry for the love in 50 words challenge with an extra line or two! But of course it's splendid as is!
I hope she read this. Did she? It accurately describes how important a loved one is. Beautiful work!!!

Well-wrought and very sweet, John! I'm certain that when Prometheus gifted man with fire, it was this warmth he meant to inspire.
