A Thief In The Day II: Cloudy Skies

Despair, each and every day... -you try to cover my sky with your curtains of gray. You truly are a thief, in each and every day.

The sun is out, but‐

I see clouds

I should be warm, but‐

I'm cold

I can't see rain, but‐

I can hear drop after drop hit the ground

Why am I...?

Oh, it's you...

Despair‐

of course,

I should've known.

No one can turn a blue sky gray the way you can.

Like a thief in the day,

you steal the light from the sun,

and the beauty out of each day.

What is a gentle gust of wind,

you turn into a horrible tirade‐

and what is supposed to be warm,

you make ice cold.

Like a thief in the day,

you are predictable and bold,

but still cannot be caught‐

calling on clouds and rain to mask your presence,

you hide in the darkest shadows of silence‐

waiting, to victimize your prey.

A repeat offender,

like a thief, in each and every day.

If you had the strength to hold the sun down every morning,

I'm certain you would, but‐

you can't...

so you paint over it with your own colors,

blocking all light with your curtains,

in each and every shade of gray‐

robbing me of warmth,

and covering me with your cloudy skies.

Despair‐

of course it's you again...

I should expect nothing less from the likes of you,

A thief, in each and every day.

About the Creator

Josh Morgan

Personally, writing began as a creative outlet, to be a means of processing and venting emotion, but it has become so much more. Something I want not to be just relatable, enjoyable and a good read, but to reach someone who is in need.
