A Silly Rhyme

A bit of nonsense

By Jennifer Ann TiptonPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

The day's beginning, all are singing

And what's the reason for?

To raise our voice, we must rejoice

To unlock the only door.

Life moves on, with a song

'til the day is dark and grey

Oh let it be that we shall see

The beginning of a brand new day.

Hey diddle diddle, the bat's got a riddle

to be guessed an old-fashioned way.

What way is that, you foolish bat?

You have no right to play.

A song and dance, or perchance,

A poem if you please.

The cat's gone lazy, if not crazy

And give that mouse some cheese.

The day is at an end, my friend

It's time to say goodbye.

The trees are weeping, all are sleeping

It soon will be time to rise.

Light is dying, people crying

Oh let those deep tears pour.

Let's grow stronger a little longer

Isn't that what life is for?

The day is at an end, my friend

It's time to journey home.

The sun will stay, to light our way

To the path of stone.

What this may be, as you can see

Nothing but a silly rhyme.

Of complex strings and silly things

For which I'm out of time.
