A Pleasant Visit

My Home Away From Home

By Alicia RoyalePublished 4 years ago Updated 4 years ago 1 min read
Beauty In The Desert

Such a hot yet amazing place,

no one would ever believe.

The beauty hidden within the desert,

I didn’t want to leave.

***

The Southern hospitality,

so deeply rooted in the West.

No anger or animosity displayed,

everyone was at their best.

***

My home away from home,

which one did I love more?

I was too captivated by the desert beauty,

to bother keeping score!

***

From the very first day I landed,

a feeling of home was immediately felt.

Not one worry in the world,

maybe one - I thought I would melt!

***

Everyone was so nice,

and quick to lend a hand.

If you ever had a need,

they did what they can.

***

Yet the heat took its toll on me,

and from the pretty desert I had to retreat.

It knocked me down pretty hard,

almost unable to stand on my own feet.

***

So I gathered all my things,

as tears poured from my eyes.

Explained to loved ones I had to leave,

but I’ll be back to visit - because I don’t believe in goodbyes….
