It is him,

Who has become my sanctuary, a quiet place to rest my head. I am at peace. Free to be me in a world that's constantly judging and pointing fingers. Everything I do is scrutinized, or I'm ostracized because it doesn't fit neatly into view. But he makes me feel like there's nothing that I can't do. Blessed beyond words, loved further than the sea, cherished beyond measure for simply being me. He is my heartbeat! He is home to me!

Detroit lives in me,

From the slang, I use to the work ethic that flows through me. It's the green of the grass and the colors of the city. We come alive. My city is a place that is judged constantly, but regardless of what you think you know there's much more to see. Take a look to explore the wealth of this city. Find the culture it brings and the joy of its people. Follow the stories it tells and the growth it's contributing. A place that doesn't get enough credit for the brilliance it maintains. Find the love for Detroit home for which greatness reigns.

The beating of my heart,

The breath that I take, the tingle in my feet with every step I make. The calm nature of my speech and the warm embrace in my hug. All the love I'm going to bring and what I hope for in return. The joy that flows through my body and the light that shines from my soul. It's the weird things that I say or the strangeness that makes me known. It's my life and my individuality, the things that make me ok with being who I am. It's the love I have for myself that makes every place feel like home!
