A Not So Distant Past
A Stream Of Consciousness Poem After Watching Past Debate On YouTube

Before, always nostalgic
but the times are not all that different
I'm not satisfied
I am not satisfied with the progress
I'm not satisfied with rushing to electric vehicles when we are clearly not fully ready
I'm not satisfied with the environmental shaming of products sold when some of us are trying to get by
Why does every product need a background check
I am not satisfied
That what we have most in common is we are not satisfied
That we can agree on the problem, but never the means in tackling them
I am not satisfied that the same speech could be said today
Decades later
Everyone with the same dissatisfaction
Everyone with their own brand of fix
Slowing progress
Are the farmers courted the same?
Property tax remain?
What is that, that I heard of tax on unrealized gains most recently
Pay as you go only works for people not the government apparently.
Is teacher salary not discussed similarly?
Except now while instead of fixing education for underpreparing folks for the work force we damn them completely
Looking for new ways
While those debts remain for those trusting in the new old way
Why do we discuss schools and teacher's salary? or is it just higher education that's the problem?
But sure, "we can blame the 4 Republicans over any of the 8 Democrats."
Same blame game
I think we can do better
We may not be at a standstill, but if you can't see it move? ....And every number has a footnote?....
What candidate from what party is right for the time?
Same gamble
The question remains the same
"Who will allow for individual enterprise?", Best
Do we learn from history
Or one obstruction of justice traded for another
Because it's different, not a type
Will we let the tide run out and find ourselves chasing it
I don't know
But I am not satisfied
you can kill the sayer of words
There will always be another
Who can prove with action
We can do better
Because we have something to build on already
Sigh
The times are not all that different
But, they aren't quite the same
I am not satisfied
