A Night With No End

an effortless, captivating voice

By A. Keith ClementPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

I walked into the room

I sat down in my favorite chair

the sweet fragrance

she was wearing filled the air

a deep blue satin dress

outlined the contours of her body

accenting her every move

it was quiet

all that could be heard

was soft music

the crackling from the fire

shadows were dancing on the walls

appearing to flow with the melody

the ambiance in the room relaxed me

an effortless, captivating voice

(as if it wasn't there)

inquired if they could massage my feet

before I could respond

she was resting on the floor

handed me a drink

as I reached for it

her hand gently grasped my fingers

letting me know

she was pleased I was home

my eyes began to close

I was falling asleep

images of her

filled my mind

like the shadows on the wall

I don't know how long it was

before I began to wake

her Scent

still filled the room

I could again see her Blue Satin Dress

all though it has been a year

a year since her death
