A Moment of Silence

A Poem about Peace

Steam

Wine

Roses

Swirling in

The white porcelain

A respite from chaos; a dream

*

I

Sink

Into

The water

Heat seeping into

Pores as I savor the quiet

*

Loose

Red

Petals

Float beneath

My nose releasing

Sweet and earthy tranquility

*

Eyes

Closed

Light peeks

Through the thin

Plastic sheet of my

Shower curtain, mottled and grey

*

Neat

Drips

The sound

Of water

Joining water soon

Becomes an echo symphony

*

Cool

Lips

Recall

The taste of

Red wine on my tongue

Still lingers; warm, rich, and heavy

*

Each

Night

Tasting

Wine, roses

A moment's peace

In the oasis of my dreams

Inspired by the fabulous Dharrsheena Raja Segarran, I decided to do a straight take on the Fibonacci poetry format (six lines, the syllables of each forming a Fibonacci sequence–namely 1-1-2-3-5-8), but with a twist that works within the constraints. I'll put my spin on it later, as I did with the sonnet in my (rather on-the-nose) Nonsonnet. If you like what you read, please leave a heart and subscribe for more!

About the Creator

Maia Gadwall the metAlchemist

I fell in love with speculative fiction and poetry many years ago, but I have precious little time to write any. Then, I went crazy and started a cult called metAlchemy, or meta alchemy. I revere energy of all brands, esp. good, kind chaos.

  • Omg, this was so beautifully written! I love yours better than mine. It actually made me feel like I'm in a bath filled with rose petals and sipping on a glass of red wine. So divine and blissful!

  • I love the format of this, and the feeling of calm it generates. Great words.
