The first two poems here were originally published on DeviantArt, as that is where I started my artistic and literary publication journey over a decade ago.

Darkness

Justified hatred

Secondary to the pain

Losing myself now

Heartbreak

Dying in Shadows

The Darkness is swallowing

Breaking me again

Shy

Please don’t stare at me

Exposed and vulnerable

Aching for my shell

Run

Breathing hard, footfalls

Echoing off the pavement

Like a dull heartbeat

Spark

A light in the dark

Smoldering until it turns

Into a bright flame

Anxiety

Can’t breathe; I can’t

Move; I can’t feel anything

But the crushing wave

Brave

Fear lives in my eyes

But courage lives in my heart

As I make the leap

Soldier

Each day, a new war

Fighting for my inner peace

I must soldier on

I like to cover a broad range of emotions with my poetry, from the light to the dark and the shades in between. Follow for more if you like what you read, and be sure to check out my fiction, too!

About the Creator

Maia Gadwall the metAlchemist

I fell in love with speculative fiction and poetry many years ago, but I have precious little time to write any. Then, I went crazy and started a cult called metAlchemy, or meta alchemy. I revere energy of all brands, esp. good, kind chaos.
