A little flame

From a girl with an unknown name

You just left me out to dry

You know you’re running, running out of time

When you’re ready

I’ll be gone to a new place

A distant land where I have a new name

And my soulmate and I will live harmoniously

And my love will have gone cold enough

Cold enough to save for another life

Perhaps

If you’re ready by then

It’s a shame

Only I’m to blame

I sought you out knowing it would end

In pure rain

Rain from my eyes

Rain from the thundering clouds

Rain on my heart

Drowning me until I cry

I’ve had enough

I sought you out

Knowing it would end

In pure pain

Tied up, restrained

Suffocated by your suppressed love

Filled with your misplaced rage

Quiet and cold

Withheld

Whipped by the belt

Cry for me

I’ll spread myself and die for you

Your martyr to sacrifice

Renew your aching soul

I’ll be gone to a new place

A distant land where I have a new name

And my soulmate and I will live harmoniously

And I’ll send out the little boat on the lake

With a little lantern and a little flame

A little one for you to name

I send it with love

And a little paper crane

Hold it like we held hands

Briefly, that one night of majesty

Say a little prayer

It whispers back to me

Like a silent flare

Shot into my heart

But gentle as a dandelion wish

The effervescent smoke encircles my heart

I loved you then

Love you now

Always will

The little flame

heartbreak
