A Heavy Load

We All Carry Them

We rode our bikes down that same road often

What happened that day?

Did I just not see him?

It affected my whole life after that

My brother just two years younger followed me into the street

Why did he always follow me

I was just a kid too

It was too much responsibility for one so young

Why did the car strike him and not me

Why did he follow me that day?

I lost my way in life

Then found it again

I vowed when I found my righteous path

That I would protect my children

However, can you protect them from life

I will carry this to my grave

This is not about my life, but a friend who told me their story.

This is dedicated to my friend that calls me crazy for we met under difficult circumstances- the death of my son.

And in memory of just plain Glenn, he will never be forgotten, in my friend's mind.

If you think you know someone, don't be too sure.

You never know someone until you know their story.
