A heart of glass.

Poem by Kathy Nelmes

By Kathy NelmesPublished 6 years ago 1 min read

They say “She has a heart of glass”

And yeah I think they’re right.

Because now her heart is broken,

She has no more strength to fight.

What was once warm and open,

To love is now but dead.

No more feelings no love,

Just a cold glass heart instead.

You see..

She gave all her heart and trusted,

The person she thought she knew.

She fell head over heels and deeply in love,

She didn’t know what to do.

She never loved much,

but when she did it was strong.

A biter sweet love turned sour,

And it didn’t take too long.

Started off as happiness,

Her heart would skip a beat.

Butterflies turned to stomachaches,

Whenever they would meet.

Weeks went by quickly,

Things didn’t feel the same.

She use to love deeply,

But she was hurt and betrayed.

He was a good guy to all her friends,

But behind closed doors it was all pretend.

He broke her trust in more ways than one,

She thought “without a man I’ll have more fun”.

So now she has a glass heart,

Easy to shatter but hard to repair.

What once was warm and gentle,

Now shattered and broken without a care.
