A Haunting in the Shadows

Lost Souls and Lurking Fears in the Midnight Forest

Deep into the night, when darkness looms,

Deep and shadowy, there is a forest.

Murmurs float through the air at midnight,

There are old horrors that lurk there.

On the other side of the moon's faint, spectral light,

Here, not even the sun himself dared to set foot.

In the hands of twisted, gnarled, dark trees,

Protect the mysteries of these eerie realms.

Within this woodland, a living thing,

Only ghosts dare to live here now.

In the pitch black, their eyes sparkle,

Yearning to find a spirit to stamp.

Gentle, leisurely footsteps reverberate,

Along ways that are known only to the dead.

A rustle in the leaves, a chill in the air,

A tragic tale that has to be kept hidden.

The clearing is adorned with a stone,

Adorned with moss, abandoned, alone.

Time has worn an epitaph.

Tragic names buried in filth and blood.

A wicked sorceress's spell, a demonic abode,

Restricts entry to those who are hopeless.

A haunting chorus, the cry of a banshee,

As the dark curtain reflects them.

Deadly fingers, ethereal as night,

Caress the surface of your ephemeral breath.

With fiery eyes and frigid hearts,

Shadows lurking, as dark as the night.

A weathered, ancient cottage awaits

Confidential, mysterious, and fearsome are its walls.

Though they have burned out, candles still glimmer

Unseen forces move upon them to motivate them.

Take a seat, they murmur, and relax for a bit.

Can you make out the kid in the corner?

Hollow eyes, tightly pursed lips,

A lifeless doll, shattered.

As murmurs intensify into piercing cries,

Shaking you in opposition.

Steps trail close after,

There is no tranquility to be found here.

Quickly mark this and go if you can,

A living nightmare has opened its door to you.

The country of perpetual and bleak darkness

In the shadows where spirits wander aimlessly.

As soon as you emerge from the dense woodland,

Its specters lurk inside your soul.

And when darkness reigns and shadows dance,

Stay, the forest begs you.

This night will go on forever,

No way out, no light to guide you.

Amidst the darkness, constantly disoriented,

The terrifying price of a damned spirit.
