A Gathering
Old Souls
By Cindy CalderPublished about a year ago • Updated about a year ago • 1 min read

In a gathering of old souls who recognized and sang to mine
I heard echoes of long past ages and words innately divine
Whispers of untold secrets ’til then escaped, undivulged
But in aching accumulation of awareness, at last were nudged
To take in hand the chisel, and from the marble carve a light
In search of those souls glimmering far brighter in the night

•–beautifully written, I especially liked that their old souls sang to yours. •– this poem has that je ne sais quoi, I can’t quite put words to it, but I know I love it and they would love it too, you guys were knitted from the same wool, the finest. •– the last two lines were superb and this line ‘and from the marble carve a light’ yeah I kept repeating it, it sounded so good on the tongue 👌🏽👏🏽🤗
Beautiful! ⚡♥️⚡
I read this as knowledge as a gem, but I think it could be interpreted many ways at many layers. Skillfully done!
A beautiful personification of the stars Cindy, or at least that was my interpretation!! Very well done!!
You are a wonderful poet, Cindy! Your poem reminds me of the waves of feeling I experienced the first time I walked through the Library of Congress. There is something sacred experienced in the halls of a knowledge that is not felt in the halls of power!
Oh my, this is superb! The longer form lines with the rhyme gave this an elevated tone that fit the piece so well
Fantastic poem! ✨
