A Depth of Love

He sends her a message of hopes and smiles,

Letting her know she’s part of his daily thought,

A piece of his heart he carries into the future,

Without which he’d awaken terribly distraught.

He laughs at her response as she replies in kind,

These two are destined to forever be,

A couple to envy, a love made of fairytales,

A blessing for the rest of us to see.

**

He lives for her happiness,

She strives to see his smile grow wider,

He blesses the ground upon which she glides,

And she welcomes him as her happiness provider.

**

He lays at night and dreams of their future,

Knowing there’s nothing more right with his life,

She is his for the taking, a dream come true,

And she is destined to become his wife.

**

He ponders the years to come,

Planning their golden years in infinite detail,

Nothing will thwart their wishes, their dreams,

He’ll not allow a single problem to derail.

**

He’s prepared for the topsy-turvy rhythm of life,

And he’s bound to protect her, to shelter her under his wing,

Ensuring she is safe, warm and lives carefree,

As she honours the very protectiveness he will freely bring.

**

As the years pass, he warms her heart,

Keeping his promises and living within their bliss,

Every day he wakes with a smile for his bride,

And every evening he says goodnight with a kiss.

**

Their life is far from mundane, it has tested and trialled,

But they’ve held on tight and rode the waves with hope,

Together they’ve faced the best of the best, the worst of the worst,

And it is together united that they’ve managed to cope.

**

Old age creeps up silently when they least expected it,

And their skin may wrinkle, their energy waned,

But their loving hearts have kept the shade of youth,

Ensuring their love is still deeply ingrained.
