A Demon's Fate

Where the wild things go to die.

By Pamela AubreyPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

An empty soul, a barren heart

Latched onto mine for life

It clung so hard, it choked it tight

And used it for its only light.

Until one day, as fate would choose

The light went out and exposed the ruse.

That soul it shrieked a fearsome shriek

And loosed the beast that once had hid.

With all its might did it fight

To undo what it did.

With all its hate it waged its war

To no avail it fought for more

And when at last, no love it found

It sought to put me in the ground.

This too proved a fruitless cause

Despite its legions, the war was lost.

It writhed and thrashed

With all its weight

It fought its self inflicted fate.

Yet, all the rage just sealed it more

And silenced its once trusted roar.

That raging beast, void of any life,

Slunk away -

To the place where the wild things die.
