A Day On The Road With Hubby
A short motorcycle ride to dinner and picking up a few groceries
When I met hubby, I had a Harley Fund jar
When my baby turned 21, I would have a bike
My mind was made up. I have had one ever since
My baby is 47 now. When I was pregnant with him
I slid off my BSA in some soft sand. My mother
made me promise no more motorcycles until
my babies were grown up. We set 21 as the age.
We have Yamaha motorcycles now, and I have had
a BSA, Suzuki, and Yamaha motorcycles
Hubby has had Honda and Yamaha.
~
Now he rides a 1900 Stratoliner
and I ride a 1300 V-Star
Hubby calls his the blue hulk
and mine, little red riding hood
Yesterday was a perfect day for riding
We don't ride Harley's as when I first
bought a bike after many years
Hubby said, I wouldn't be riding
with him on a Harley as he likes
to ride and not fix.
~
He was right, as other than
maintenance, no break downs
ever. It is important to pay close
attention to other drivers, as
they don't always see you coming
Harleys are usually louder than
other bikes, and when I rode one
while vacationing, a screw fell off
the bike and the seat was not
comfortable, and the bike shook.
~~
Author's Note: Yesterday was a beautiful fall day for a ride with leaves bright and shiny, and the sun warm, and the air fresh. I have been hesitant about riding this year, due to the smoke from Canadian wild fires and my age and health. I will continue to ride. I will have probably only put on 500 or so miles this year, but yesterdays ride makes it all worth it.

Such a wonderful story, I love how bikes have been woven through your life’s journey 🏍️
Oooo, blue hulk and little red riding hood, love those names!
My husband had to lay one down when he was young and now refuses. I have never had one. My dad back in the 60’s pull up one day when I was at a park and just sitting on a schoolmate’s motorcycle and just gave me the what for. He was totally against them because of the danger. You are right - people don’t pay attention, but I’ve always dreamed of just getting on one and riding off into the sunset through the desert lands & through the mountains. Just free with the wind. But then too I don’t like bugs in my face although I know there’s a windscreen🤣 rTde and be free; enjoy the beauty.❤️
Sounds like a lot of fun. A good portion of my family rides motorcycles. It used to be all about the Harleys, but many people have taken to the smaller, quieter bikes. I think the only Harley left with my people isn't ridden; it's a project.
The wind must have given you a rush!
