A Christmas Unlike Mine
Not All Christmas' Are Created Equal

Catered champagne and caviar
themed getaways, out on the coast
Family flown in from afar
gathered around to make a toast
*
Soup kitchen lines and bitter chills
huddled close, collecting heat
A warm cooked meal, without the frills
happy to have something to eat
*
A casserole and potatoes, sweet
waiting for dad to carve the turkey
So many different things to eat
thankful for our tender mercies
*
A TV dinner all alone
a bag of chips and binging Netflix
Waiting for a texts on the phone
absent and apologetic
*
We never know, behind closed doors
celebrations, different meanings
Some with little, some with more
most living somewhere in between
*
Every life invaluable
every breath worth being measured
Grace and peace are palpable
extend the spirit and it's treasures
