My Happy/Sad Holiday Tale
Wishing You All, Happy And Bright
like the buds on the trees
they grow wild, like weeds
absorbing all that you feed
until they can meet their own needs
all the seasons in life
as they learn wrong from right
and then, like overnight
they fly away in the breeze
you cry those happy tears
remembering early years
the failures and cheers
like a breath, disappears
and then, just like that
you're like your mom and dad
alone by the windows they sat
awaiting your visit or chat
but the minutes fly by
that's the thing about time
it looks you square in the eye
ticking on, as you cry
all alone in your room
it all goes by far too soon
so you keep on moving
that's what's expected of you
and then, out of no where
your family reappears
around table and chairs
sharing new holiday cheer
Oh, that labyrinth we call life
with all it's struggles and strife
in the end, it all ends up alright
and to all a good night

This poem beautifully captures the bittersweet nature of life's journey. The cyclical nature of life, from birth to death, is poignantly expressed. This is a truly moving piece that resonates with the human experience.
For such a supposedly happy season, the holidays sure have a way of bringing us down. Beautiful piece.
What a great family poem you have written. Beautiful.
