50/50 Chance

A Short Poem

my father’s indecisive footsteps

lingered by my bedroom door

as if he’s fighting back his urges

I prepare myself for the worst

it’s heads or tails

a 50/50 chance that he will go away

I submerge myself deeper into the bed

& put the covers over my head

it keeps the monsters at bay

at least that what my mother

used to say, but does she know

the “boogie man” I see every night

Is the man she loved so dearly

sad poetry

Wow. Sad but straight to the point tale....I can sort of relate but the monster was my brother and he didn't linger...he just went head
