For Poppy's prompt "Write a poem about a specific day and make the title a date," in the FB group Vocal * Voices in Minor.

No storm of any note drenched the world beneath my mother's feet
No fire of any acclaim burned the world around my first home
no sign from heaven, no sign of the day's importance
no sounding call of angels heralding the arrival
Silence...just silence...and normalcy
the silence was punctured...the normalcy transformed
screams of adult, labouring hard, the forthcoming imminent
screams of child, yearning for light, air and warmth
a Paul was born.

And a Paul-line in the sand was drawn. (Sorry. Again that was the best I could do.)
It was a night of hard labour right enough..started during the late night news, and ended just before the midwife's nightshift ended. Much joy wonder and happiness was felt in that moment. Paul you came into our world and lives, not with a wimper, but a gutsy cry "I am here!". And to quote Cathy not "just any Paul", Its a wonder my heart didn't burst with love, when I held you in my arms!! No storm drenched my feet, but there was a storm brewing for sure when the late news started ❤️
Help I thought your title meant 2080 and then I reached the last line and realised it was 1980. Like I thought this was about some kinda dystopian future 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Sorry Sir Paul, I don't know what's wrong with me hahahahhahahaha
Welcome to the world. Paul! Lol, I loved this poem! 😍
This is a wonderful poem, Paul. I, for one, feel fortunate that you entered the world, even if - as you say - unheralded. It is both a pleasure and a privilege to read your art. Even better, I love our written interactions on this platform ironically know as Vocal. 😊
THE Paul was born. Hooray!
Not just any Paul! The Paul Stewart! What a day to remember!
It feels like the speaker is grappling with the truth of the ordinary that preceded his birth. I love seeing that tension meet the gravity/importance of the final line. Beautiful.
"A Paul was born." And not just any Paul, but this Paul. Well done, Paul. 😁
What a great day ....yay
The normality and import of each of us, this is fantastic.
'A Paul was born.' Loved this so much! And yay for that very important date :)
