(the reason I love you)

I know,

You must have heard this before,

A thousand times before.

But believe me! Trust me when I say,

yours are the prettiest eyes

I've ever seen.

But it is not

they way they turn clearer

when the sun rests on them

what makes them so lovely.

It is not

their intense amber light,

dancing under a sea of gold,

like the fire of an October evening,

what melts my icy heart.

It is not

how they wrinkle━just a bit on the cornes

every time you smile.

It is not even

how easy it is

to confuse those eyes with stars

and get lost in new galaxies,

what has me writing this verses.

It is not

those hazel eyes

what takes my breath away.

It is the way they look at me.

How they travel through my skin,

drawing a perfect memory of my silhouette.

It is those dark shadows,

that shut down your light when the night falls,

and you can't sleep.

It is the ghosts, and the scars, and the secrets

you keep hidding behind the stars━

behind those broken eyes.

It's the way they tremble,

and move away with shame,

every time you cry.

It's how they find,

even in the gloomiest of worlds,

a reason to wake up each mornig.

And it is how they

when they get tired

in their search for hope.

But mostly, it is how they turn

such a worthless soul like mine

into art.

It is not what everyone sees,

but what lies behind your eyes━

your soul━

the most beautiful thing I've ever seen."
