100 Acres

I

Tea Mäkipää's floating sculpture, Eden II (photo from funcityfinder.com)

Amongst the sprawling switchgrass wild and full,

In secret refuge lies my heart with thine.

The blades of sage protect and pull the wool

over the eyes of those who seek our shrine.

Our temple here we built in meadows lush,

Enclosed by maple branches lit with sun.

The summer sky is clear and zephyrs rush

through Indiana's covert redemption.

O, June! O, sanctuary green and gold,

Behold we waifs who slumber at your breast.

Protect we two without deep roots from cold,

And crown our heads with wreaths of daisies pressed.

On Eden II I'll look as you breathe deep,

My dearest one, let June lull us to sleep.
