How to Make Money as a Photographer
The question of how to make money as a photographer is something that I'm asked frequently, and I understand why. Photography can seem like an oversaturated market, especially in more recent times, and understanding how you can earn a living off of something you love always seems to be a question people dream for the answer of but can never find.

Four Tips for Creating That Perfect Picture
Have you ever taken the perfect picture, sat back, and just thought, “This is it. This is the picture,” before you ever put it through any editing applications? Before you’ve even touched the white balances, the contrast, the sharpness, it’s just beautiful? Yeah, me neither.

Want to Make Objects Float in Your Photos? Here's What You Need to Do!. First Place in Before and After Challenge.
Many photographers shy away from taking photos of floating objects because they think it's too challenging--especially if they don't consider themselves Photoshop wizards. But the truth is that the concept behind "levitation" photography is quite simple and requires minimal editing skills.

How to create your Instagram aesthetic!
My Instagram feed is an expression of who I am. As a creative, it's my brand. I am in no way any form of influencer, but yet I've had work from my Instagram, made connections, and I enjoy playing with my own aesthetic. When I look back on memories, or trips I've taken, I like my feed to represent that moment in time. Like a public scrapbook of images.

Photo Editing Tips for Beginners
I have no aspirations to be a photographer, a social media icon, nor a marketing guru. I simply like photography. I grew up in the world of social media, and it has become as much a part of my everyday life as scrapbooking must have been thirty something years ago. I’ve been walking around with a camera phone in my back pocket since I was thirteen years old and, to this day, I won't leave my house without it.

A Sea of Dreams: Before & After
You want to see the before photo? *GASP* That's like asking to see me in the morning without my mascara & eyeliner! BUT WHYYYYY?! I used to wonder this... why would anyone want to see the before photo? If you're a client, maybe you want to double check you "look ok?" or you aren't making a "weird face"? As a photographer...perhaps you think all photo's come out of camera perfect and ready to go? (Not to say that some styles lean this way...mine does not) Maybe you need more insight into what the possibilities lie ahead?

Best Camera To Get If You Want To Be A Filmmaker.
Hands down the best camera for someone who wants to get into Filmmaking is the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4k. I have been in the filmmaking business since DV was a thing. You might not even know what that is, and that’s ok. The HDSLR’s movement revolutionized the industry. Affordable film-like quality at the lowest price point ever. Sure an HDSLR is cheaper than the Blackmagic and you get a beautiful depth of field but it's not as good as the BMPCC 4k for various reasons.

Is a Film Scanner Worth Buying?
Ever since I started scanning my own film, I've had a lot of questions as to whether or not purchasing a film scanner is really worth it. Do you need a film scanner, or should you just keep getting your scans from your lab? It's probably not a question as old as time, but it's sure a popular question nevertheless.

Photography Lessons from William Eggleston
William Eggleston is credited as one of the pioneers of color photography. In a time where the fine art photography world was consumed with black and white, Eggleston's use of color, his snapshot-like aesthetic, and banal subject matter was received with some backlash.

Our Nostalgic Collective
The classic ride parked in the carport of a mid-century home at the top of a well-watered green hill. A rundown gas station, desolate, neon glowing in the mist of night. A laundromat full of chrome, empty except for a handsome young man in a white T-shirt, jeans, and red Converse high-tops. The scenes of an America once hailed the world over as prosperous, advanced; an America gone; one that, perhaps, only ever existed in our imagination.
