Montréal Film Archives: 1
Going through old archived negatives is always full of surprises, ranging from: “wow I totally forgot about this shot, I love it!” to: “what was I thinking?” and: “what is that even a photo of?” So I’m sparing my readers the pain of looking through examples of the latter two and sharing some of my favourite shots from the 5 years I spent living in Montréal. At the time I only shot film. It is not until recently that I have begun to adopt the digital medium, but still I favour 35 millimetre photography in large part because I find the process oftentimes much more gratifying, peaceful and meditative.

35mm FAIL or GEM
FILM PHOTOGRAPHY About two years ago I decided to start taking film photos. I had only ever used digital and was way out of my depth. It was a new and exciting journey, so I went to a second had film store in Seattle and asked the man in the store more questions then he probably wanted to answer. I was so excited to learn every new thing I could. When I had finally picked a new camera and had enough film for the weekend, I met up with my best friend and snapped this photo above.

My Discovery and Re-Discovery of Vivian Maier
With Instagram presenting us with an almost unlimited amount of photographs everyday, it's quite easy to forget that these things called books exist. Books provide a far greater source of inspiration than anything found on Instagram. Why? because these are collections of art created over years of hard work, and they offer an entire experience the second you open that book.

AA–Analogue Anonymous
My name is Matilde, and I’m an Analogue Anonymous. I just love the sounds it makes. The weight of that camera in my hands. The ‘click’ it does when I release the shutter. It drives me mad. I look through the viewfinder of my Nikon F, and the world that was a mess before becomes a wonderful universe of infinite possibilities. And then there’s that smell–it comes later, when I’m in the darkroom. The smell of the developer. And the smell of fixer. It's addictive. Plus, when you’re done developing, it will stay on your fingers. So I’ll pretend to fix my hair like an idiot just to smell it again and again, all day long–until it fades.

The Origin
How One Mistake Fixed My Life, 2015-2016 I’m new to all this, so bear with me. Since 2015, I’ve been interested in filmmaking and modeling. My parents bought me a camcorder, a Sony HDR 440 on my birthday, they knew I wanted to film, due to me filming on my phone to make videos. With this camcorder, I filmed as much as I could possible, burning through gas money like substituting wood for money to light a bonfire. I filmed and edited video blogs, fun talk shows, and my brother’s race car races around the US. I learned only the basics with this camera. I mainly filmed wide shots and close ups, I didn't really get too fancy. I was only worried about creating.

Film’s Reemergence
Film photography was a booming form of expression in the 20th century. Film photography was used for family photos, journalism, and even in artistic settings. At the turn of the century, photography turned to digital as you paid a big amount of money upfront. Yet every photo from then on only took space off your memory card, making it cost-efficient. While film cameras are inexpensive today, you pay for rolls of film which add up over time. Despite this, the cost of film photography is oddly one of its charms. As well as the widely sought after film look, which many photographers who use digital photoshop to accomplish.

Best Film for Your Polaroid You Can Buy
Perhaps one of the biggest comebacks in the history of the camera is the Polaroid. Polaroids were one of the hottest cameras of the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s due to their near-instant development. By the time that the 90s came around, Polaroid cameras started to sink in popularity.
