Nouveau Edit: The Wisdom of a Novice
It has been said that the most important tool that the armies of old could have at their disposal was not the quality of their officers, not supply lines, nor weapons; this conduit that connects victory and vision, this necessity possessed in spirit by the god of war, Ares, this grossly underestimated and yet so immensely impactful bludgeon of success against foe or enemy of an enemy of an enemy alike, is boots.

Artsy Fartsy
Editing starts long before a photo is ever taken. Every day, we are making thousands of edits to our lives. Choosing the turkey sandwich on brown bread instead of white, picking the darkly coloured orange instead of the lighter one with a green tinge. Choosing to wear your favourite t-shirt instead of the new sweater your grandmother gave you, the one with the too-cute fluffy white cats.

Another Side of Dubai 2# Creek Fishnets
My name is Matthew Baker and I’m an artist who grew up in York in England. When I make a joke to my friends from New York about the fact that we are the original they never take particularly kindly to it. Which is fair enough.

The Blueprint of my Hometown
Time is running out and I am at last realizing that there has been a black and white filter altering the first version of my town. That being said, the original account is no longer available in its full life edition. What has been recorded in memories, pictures, written proofs, and so on are all valid for the sake of this account.

Jersey Love - Essex County
Jersey has a different rep amongst different crowds. Unless you're in Atlantic City, Jersey is not really a tourist place. You might go to see the Devils at the Prudential Center and then hopping on the Path Train home. So what should one think of when they think of Jersey? Guidos and Italian food? Naughty by Nature and Fetty Wap? So many differences can make Jersey feel disconnected. One of the main stereotypes of Jersey is that it's dirty and industrial. South Jersey is much different from North Jersey. It's nearly like crossing the Mason Dixie line and going into a new state; Essex county, known for its urban arts, has a different vibe than Bergen County, the most expensive county in Jersey. How could a place so small be so divided?.. Well, why not?

Greensboro, NC
The Colorful Parking Garage Greensboro. My home. My town. I was born in Burlington, NC just a little ways away from Greensboro. I’ve had family to stay near Greensboro and it has always been like a second home to me. From mall visits, Celebration Station, and to Wet N Wild! Greensboro made my childhood AMAZING! This was where some of my most significant memories lie.

An Old, Forgotten Factory Town
"Nothin' beats an Indiana sunset!" That's what every Hoosier said to me. My grandparents, my parents, their friends, my friends' parents, my teachers, my neighbors... everyone. I heard it time and time again, but I never really understood the appeal of it. To me, it was just a sunset, and I had certainly seen prettier ones. I was a senior in high school counting down the days until I could leave it all behind.

Mistral Point
It is a promontory 12 miles from where I live. Each Thursday morning l get up at five, catch two buses so I can get there by seven. As I walk from the bus stop it feels like I'm approaching hallowed ground. I slow down. I take my time. I meander through the various paths that lead there. Sometimes I take paths closest to the ocean, passing by the rock pool for example. Other times I take paths closer to the road with the joggers and dog walkers. There are other days I do a mixture of both. Still, on occasion, I stray from the already made paths to create my own on the grass.

Another Side of Dubai 1# Sun Signs
My name is Matthew Baker and I’m a artist born in London. My mission in life is to try and capture the magic and the stories that the world throws at me. I don’t restrict myself to any medium of art. I make theatre, I write music, I write, I draw and I take pictures. My art is for me, I make it for me. Audience intrigues me as art is little without it. Art needs no explanation if it is good so I see these articles I’m going to write about these pictures as a piece of art in itself too. A sister piece.
