She Made her family so very proud of her

A MUM-OF-TWO who followed her ambition to be a singer is capping off a whirlwind year by releasing her second single.

Sonya Hurst has launched her second track, Ever After and says the past year has exceeded her expectations since debut song Emily.

Highlights included performing at The Josie Show awards in Nashville last year, after Emily was nominated for three awards at the ceremony.

Sonya was also invited to Germany to perform at the Westernpoint country festival and was nominated again for three awards at this years Josie Music Awards, including pop/alternative artist of the year.

She released Ever After on December 1 and says the song has a festive feel to make it a suitable Christmas purchase. Read on to my story

Sonya’s Story

My youngest daughter, Sonya, has had an undeniable love for music since she was just 12 months old. Even as a baby, she would sit contentedly in her own little world, listening to different songs, and cooing along with the tunes. Music seemed to be part of her DNA, and it wasn't long before we realized she had a remarkable talent. By the time she was 4, she was performing at our regular holiday camp in Wales, captivating audiences with her natural charm and enthusiasm. Those early performances sparked something special in her, and she began to shine.

Sonya didn’t just love music; she thrived on it. At the holiday camps, as she grew older she won us a few holidays, in different parts of Wales with her delightful singing. Every place we traveled, we could see just how confident she had become, singing for new audiences and making friends along the way. By the time she turned ten, her songwriting began to blossom. She was writing songs that were far beyond her years, with lyrics that captured sll kinds of emotions, and catchy melodies that could easily get stuck in your head. I still remember how proud we felt as her name appeared in the local newspapers, highlighting her budding talent.

Her school recognized her gifts and encouraged her to write and sing more, providing her with opportunities to showcase her music at various events. One of her standout songs, "Emily," gained followers and ended up being played in line dance classes across the UK. This unexpected take off in music, brought her joy and grew her passion for songwriting and performing.

As Sonya grew older, she eventually married and became a mother to two lovely boys. While balancing motherhood with her responsibilities, she also found ways to keep her singing and songwriting alive. She began performing at gigs on weekends whenever she could, juggling the demands of family life while nurturing her musical dreams. Every chance she got, she would sit at her piano, filling her home with melodies and heartfelt lyrics as she crafted something new. Her determination and pride in her singing was so remarkable, and we supported her every step of the way. Along with the rest of our family and Sonya‘s friends.

Sonya released her song "Emily," and it quickly gained popularity—it can still be purchased on iTunes. This was a significant milestone for her, but the adventure didn’t stop there. She had long dreamed of visiting Nashville, the heart of the country music scene, and one day, she made that dream a reality.

However, Sonya also struggled with anxiety, which made her decision to travel overseas both hard and daunting. It was a big leap for her. Her friend went with her. Her father and I took care of our grandsons during her trip. The boys were thrilled to stay with their nan and granddad—proudly supporting their mother as she went after her dreams.

When Sonya stood on the red carpet on award night, it was a moment of pride for all of us. In that stunning photo capturing her radiant smile, she looked every bit the star she had become. She sang, danced, and truly enjoyed herself, soaking in the atmosphere of the event. When she returned home, she was filled with pride, not just for her award but also for the experiences and connections she had made during her time in Nashville.

Our family backed her all the way, and witnessing her achievements has been an incredible journey. We still celebrate her accomplishments and take immense pride in her talent. There are a few songs floating around out there, and she has earned the description of "amazing," which I wholeheartedly agree with. She is our girl.

We love Sonya more than words can express. This is just one of the many Nashville photos that capture her essence. Give her a piano or keyboard, and you’ll find that an angel's voice fills the air, surprising everyone who hears her sing.
