Look Toward The Sunshine
And The Shadows Will All Fall Behind You

When I wake up in the morning, and I can see that sunshine coming through my window, I know that I have made it another day. I love the sunshine, and I wish that the sun would shine brightly every single day.
I took this photo to remimd me and others that you always have something to smile about even on the gloomiest of days.
My Oldest Son
My oldest son was born on February 16, 1971, and it was a bright sunny day, in more ways than one. February in Delaware was known for snowstorms and blizzards, but on this day, in 1971, the sun was beaming bright. Perhaps there was something to that, for this baby grew into the most incredible human being. I was just lucky God gave him to me, to love and raise.
Richard always loved the sun, and he was a so called sun worshiper, and could be found at any beach at any given time. He was an incredible human being that lost his life to murder when he was 44 years of age.
I could always hear his voice long after his death, when I felt I could no longer go on, say "Look towards the sun, Mom, like you always taught me to do." I did just that, all the while I was looking for his murderer, and I no longer had him to talk to. My oldest son was my very best friend, and he will also inspired me beyond this world.
He always told me, "Look towards the sunshine, Mom, and the shadows will all fall behind you".
I remember that every single day of my life since he left us.
Nature Can Always Give You A Reason To Smile
If it doesn't make you smile, it will always make life tolerable. God gave us so many things that you do not have to pay for. A sunrise, like I took a photo of, a sunset, rain in it's beauty. I took a beautiful photo of a splash, because I always take my own photos for my articles I write.
I am not saying there is not beauty in rain or in clouds, it is all part of nature, and it is all beautiful. I love waterfalls and if there were more of them in Delaware I would be taking photos of them all the time. However, in the mean time I guess I am stuck with taking photos of the beach and the sunshine in my back yard.
However, that is not a difficult thing to be stuck with is it?
Sunshine Will Always Brighten Your Day
Sunlight also helps the body produce Vitamin D, which you need to keep your body healthy. Vitamin D, helps regulate the amount of calcium and phospate in the body. These nutrients are needed to keep bones, teeth and muscles heathy. A lack of Vitamin D can lead to bone deformities such as rickets in children, and bone pain cause by a condition called osteomalacia in adults. Vitamin D has also been linked to improved mental health in some studies.
While not technically a mediation, sunshine can be considered a natural mood booster and is often linked to having antidepressant effects, primarily because exposure to susnlight increases serotonin production in the brain, which is a neurotramsmitter associated with feelings of well-being. This is especially relevant for people experiencing seasonal affective disorder (SAD), where reduced sunight exposure can contribute to depression.
So take your cell phone along with you on your daily walk, or when you are out shopping, or whenever you go outside. If the sun is shining take a picture of it, just like I did in the above photo. It will make you feel good all day long.
So just remember as my son always said to me, and I remember every single day.
