I wish I could say that this photo was taken on some grand, wild adventure. But alas, I met this incredibly talkative and cheeky macaw at the Naples Zoo in Florida. It wasn’t the first time we had met; I grew up visiting this zoo and there was always an assortment of rescued birds who called the zoo home.

I was coming home from a different photo opportunity - a little concert in an indie music store, perfectly lit to the eye but it might has well have been half a mile below the surface to the camera. Unless it is a picture of a specific product being advertised or a specific person that was photographed as part of an article or ad, it is a stock photograph. Do the same for websites. As you can see 95% of all images used for commercial purposes (and to a lesser degree for editorial) are stock photographs.
