Iron Butterfly
The monarch butterfly is in trouble. Their numbers have declined 90% over the past 20 years due to a combination of land development and the widespread use of pesticides and weedkillers, which has decimated the population of milkweed – the monarch’s only food source.

Ducks in a row
I've always loved to take pictures, and still remember my first camera, which was a Kodak Instamatic 110 film camera (the kind that took flash cubes, yeah I know, I'm dating myself), and am sad to report, I no longer have it, not that it matters due to the fact it's obsolete, and not only is 110 film impossible to find, but nobody really processes film anymore anyway, so it's a moot point.

Onaqui Wild Horses
I live in Utah where there are several herds of wild horses that are managed by the Bureau of Land Management. Over the years I have seen many photos of these beautiful animals. I finally decided it was time that I took the trip myself. I loaded up my camera filled my car with fuel and made sure my tires were aired up (the road out to this area is rough and has a reputation for causing flat tires), told my family where I was going and to come find me if I didn’t get home by 8:00 PM.

The Flight of the Spider Monkey
The heat was stifling. Being near the mighty flowing Amazon River was the only solace I could find from the oppressive heat, so being invited to travel on a long boat to visit some of the river-dwelling animals found in the Amazon Jungle sounded like heaven on such a hellishly hot day.

The Beauty Of Wildlife Photography
I have always had a love for photography. Growing up, I took classes and played with old film cameras. It wasn't until my mid-twenties that I was able to truly pursue photography, and what started as a childhood hobby went on to be my greatest passion. I've been lucky enough to photograph many subjects. I've shot portraits, landscapes, vehicles, and architecture, but nothing compares to the beauty that is photographing wildlife. It an almost magical feeling that fills me with more joy than I can possibly describe. I've always had a love for nature, but photography has given me so much more of a desire to work with it and capture the beauty of the animals we so often take for granted.

How to Check and Adjust for Dynamic Range
Most photographers are familiar with the term HDR, but do you understand what it means? Unfortunately, the term has become synonymous with the over-processed and over-saturated images that were popular a few years back. These images were created by taking multiple frames of the same scene at different exposures — sometimes dozens, and then compositing them in post-processing. This produced images with no dynamic range at all.

When I snap the shutter of my camera. It takes time to find what I plan on shooting. When I take a photo trip my day is planned on where I will go. I have gone to places expecting to get a story and have left with nothing. then there are times I just bring my camera just incase and have filled half a memory card (500ish photos). My vision is unclear I look for something that no one else sees. Sometimes it is easy sometimes not. The story can be ugly or beautiful. I have thousands of shots not all good however I can tell you where most of them were captured.
