Communicating With Images
Language and communication are all about words, right? If we want to get a message across, we find appropriate words and put them together carefully. But, what about images? Are they just there to offer support to the words, something colourful to interrupt monochrome text? Most if not all of us will be familiar with the saying "a picture speaks 1000 words". Yet, in practise we often act as if this weren't true. Words and text on a page seem to be valued more highly. But, perhaps a shift is taking place. Online communication commonly includes emojis and Gifs, perhaps indicating that words on their own aren't enough.

STUDY IN ART
NOW AND THEN WE NEED A CHALLENGE to become a better version of ourselves than what we are or have bended toward. Whether it be photography, writing, painting, building something or simply "that next course higher up the ladder. In 2005 The Artist's Magazine ran a motivational promotion suggesting interested parties review a host of artwork by old masters. The "Old Masters" would be those literally predominating the world of art by definition back in the 18th century. One of my favorite was THE OLD GUITARIST by Picasso. The deed was to emulate the artist's work to a point that no explanation need be given to understand the image created. As the Old Master presented his work, so should the one being so motivated. For me, it was this self portrait.

Tips for Designing Superior Photobooks
Professional PhotoBook 1. USE NUMBER OF PHOTOS/PAGE JUDICIOUSLY: Don’t throng a single page with lots of pictures. If possible try putting a single photograph per page giving it enough room to expand and express itself. Give your photo a centre stage. Typically every photobook commonly comes in 8 X 8 inch. Putting 12 photos on a single layout will print very small photos and people have difficulty looking at it. Similarly putting the same number of photos on 12 X12 inch page layout looks more organized and less crowded.

Spending 7-Minutes with the Nikon Z 105mm MC 2.8 at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art
Nikon’s Z 105mm MC 2.8 VR lens immediately sold out after it was announced last year; a sought after item since. After waiting months for one myself, I impatiently imported a lens and have been enjoying it in all sorts of ways. Fast-forward a few months and I come across a discussion about the lens on Reddit and realized that folks were still having issues with Nikon’s lack of supply. Either this glass is made of unobtanium or Nikon is still suffering from supply issues in Thailand. While I can’t do anything about the lack of available lenses, I can help with the lack of first-hand impressions. Read on!

Reneta Cherlise’s Black Archives; The Intersection Of Black History, Present, and Future.
History belongs to the victors, so we’ve been told. In many ways, this has proven true. American history is most often documented through the lens or perspective of the white victors. This holds true across the African diaspora. The ability to connect with one’s past and see nuanced representation is a gift.
