Two and half years ago I decided on getting a cat. My bestfriend has a cousin whos cat had just had kittens and she wanted to get rid of them. (Free Kittens!!!!) My bestfriend sent pictures to see if I was sure. There were four kittens 2 boys, and 2 girls. One boy was all black with white paws and a white underbelly. The other boy was all grey. One of the females was a multicolor black, brown, and tan with white paws and a white underbelly. The other female was all grey. Each of them had green eyes. I let my bestfriend know I was very interested!
We drive two hours to to where they were located and once we saw them I knew I couldn't take one. At the time my job demanded 10 hours a day and sometimes I'd work longer, as well as going in on off days here and there. In my mind I had to get two so that they wouldn't be lonely. I wanted two boy cats but friends had told me boys are very territorial and leave odors. So.....the two girls it is. I named them Royalty (grey) Majesty (multicolor).
A few weeks go by and my new babies and I go to hangout with my bestfriend at her sister's house. Her sister has three cats and I was excited for all to meet. (new pet owner) All the cats & kittens together could have honestly cared less. My babies were hiding under things, playing on the stairs and overall exploring the new surroundings. The big cats hissed if they came close and kept a watchful eye from a distance as to their every little moves. I step out for a moment and when I returned my bestfriends sister had Royalty in her lap on her back. She says "I have to show you something really important." With my eyes wide and heart pounding I said, "What's wrong?" She says, "You're gonna be mad." "Tell me." I said. She opened his legs and said, "It's a boy!" Relieved nothing was wrong with him I just said, "Ohhhh." Before asking was she sure. We compared both kittens parts and it was clear the young female kitten known as Royalty is a boy kitten who name is now Royal. Apparently his parts were still tucked in and I got them before sex could truly be determined. It's funny because when they would play Majesty always seemed to attack in between his legs. I guess she knew before me.
At this time they are young and the thought of them having kittens, and him spraying is in my mind a little further down the road and I did not make getting them fixed a priority. About a year goes by and Majesty starts becoming more affectionate, vocal, and walking around with her thang tooted. Royal begins to start following her around with his nose in her butt, and wrestling her to the ground. It is quite apparent they are in heat, but never a follow through. Most of the time I break them up but, I cannot be everywhere all the time. There has never been any kittens and we are going on three years.
During the beginning of the pandemic I took in a female kitten and named her Dutchess. She was a stray but she was so cute and we were in quarantine. (needed a spark) I got all her shots but never got her fixed either. She will be a year in March and has already begun making noises as if she is looking to mate. She isn't as attention seeking as Majesty, and rarely has her butt in the air. Royal doesn't seem to be paying her any attention as of now as for some reason he is focused on Majesty.
They are my babies and I don't want them in any pain which is why I have never done it. I don't want them to be scared, hurt, or confused. People tell me they are animals and they will be ok. I'm sure that is the case but I personally don't know any talking animals and the thought of not knowing how they truly feel makes me nervous to put them in a surgical circumstance. I may be overthinking it but hey....that's me! I have been told the girls could get sick if I don't get them fixed and if Royal & Majesty (the siblings) have kittens they could have health problems and I do not want that. Once my finances are in better condition. I will get Royal fixed first because the spraying has got to STOP! It just started and is honestly not often, but when it hits it HITS!!!!!
