How I Switched My Cat to Wood Litter
As someone who grew up with cats, cat litter was always a staple in my household. I saw litters of every kind come and go. From massive boxes of clay that I could barely lift with my scrawny arms to fancy, Fabreeze infused litters that gave me a headache and, of course, "miracle" lightweight litter that gave off more dust than could possibly be safe for any creature to inhale. Despite my misgivings about litter, and it's annoying habit of ending up all over my apartment, I always felt that it was a necessary aspect of owning a cat. Little did I realize there was a cost-effective, biodegradable solution that I could be using! I'm talking about wood pellets.

5 of My Favorite Dog Breeds
For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to work with animals in one way or another. Currently, I am a senior pre-veterinary student at the University of Connecticut, so clearly the medicine aspect won out. However, animal behavior was a close second. I really enjoy learning the personalities of different animals, and the best ways to react to and train them. Dogs and the differences between their breeds especially interest me, because every breed has some significant differences to learn about. These differences make them best suited for different types of families, and it's best to do your diligent research before deciding on an animal to add to your family.

It's Not All About the Puppy Breath (Pt. 1)
"Want a dog?" my husband had asked me one day. This was not a question that I had not heard before. The only difference was that he meant now as opposed to later. We had discussed getting another one at some point but had always felt that the timing wasn't right. His work schedule took him away from home three weeks at a time and my job took me out of town three days every week. We felt that the dog would not be getting adequate care and even though we lived on the lake, our yard was not fenced in so we had no way of maintaining control. It's when you've lost control that bad things start to happen. My husband is an avid duck hunter so his dream has always been to get a hunting dog. I won't hold him back but I can't help but think that he hasn't thought this thing through. You see, I am not a hunter. I do not understand the concept between the dog, the birds, or the theory behind the combination of the two but according to my husband, this pup was coming from what people would consider a good blood-lined dog which meant that this puppy came from top-of-the-line parents and that made her a prospect of becoming a good hunting dog as well. He felt the investment would be worth it. Who was I to say no? All I was seeing was a new puppy. My husband's reasons were nothing more than a blob in the back of my head.

When I was little, the only movie I wanted to watch was Homeward Bound. With few exceptions, you could only get me to watch anything else by replacing the beloved Shadow, Sassy, and Chance with other famous movie pets. As long as there was a dog on the screen, I was happy.

The Little Kitten That Could (Part 1)
Rewind to mid-May, 2018. I'm on a mild walk to get my heart going and to keep my anxiety down. The sun is bright as it reflects off the car hoods that sit idly waiting for the light to change from red to green, allowing them to cross a very busy intersection. I'm standing in the middle island, waiting for my red hand to turn into a white walkman when my phone starts to ring from my pocket.

So You Want to Become a Dog-Walker/Petsitter?
So you want to become a dog-walker? Of course you do, dogs are great! What could be better than walking a dog, getting to play with them and snuggling for a little bit then dropping them back home ? It’s kinda like being an aunt to an adorable nephew... you get to be there for the cute stuff and then hand him off to his “owner” (your sister) for the less cute stuff like diaper changes or temper tantrums. Dog-walking and petsitting is a great way to earn extra money, stay active and meet new animals! (And people too I guess)

Dugongs, while similar to manatees, are shorter and slender comparing to their western hemisphere well-known marine mammals to have ever been studied in the Southern Hemisphere, research that has been done on the animals would eventually give way to the rise of manatee research in the United States and Brazil. These animals are known to grow up to 11 feet long and weight up to 2,200 pounds.
