The Orphan Kitten’s Journey

From Losing His Mother to Finding a New Home at the Zoo

By Bilal MohammadiPublished 7 months ago 3 min read

This incident happened in the year 2023. So, I wanted to share it with you as well. Please read the whole story; it’s a very interesting incident At that time, our house was in Qala Zaman Khan.

Whenever I see a kitten or a cat, I remember that cat. Even when I see stories about cats on Facebook, I start thinking deeply and that same scene comes back to my mind.

In our house, we had a cat who gave birth to seven kittens. But every day, one kitten died. In the end, only one kitten was left, and the rest all died. Finally, the mother cat also died.

That one kitten used to wander around looking surprised and sad. He was still very small.

One day, there was a very heavy rain and also hailstones. The kitten kept running from one room to another, searching for his mother.

Then I picked up the kitten and put him in a warm room so that he wouldn’t get sick because it was very cold and raining outside. I kept the kitten with me until he grew a bit bigger.

Later, I took him to the animal shelter (zoo). There, I left him with other cats and told the caretaker to take good care of him because his mother had died. I brought him there because he looked sad at home.

A long time later, about one year and three months later, I went back to the zoo. When I arrived, I remembered that kitten and went to see him.

When I looked, the kitten had grown very big, and they had named him “Orphan Kitten.”

When I told the caretaker that I wanted to take the kitten back, he said, “Do you know how much this cat costs? Now we sell it for 300 US dollars, or actually, we don’t even want to sell it because we keep it here to make the zoo beautiful.”

I told him, “Please take good care of this orphan kitten because his mother died, and it makes me very sad.”

The man looked at me with surprise and said, “How do you know that his mother died?”

I told him, “Because I am the one who brought this kitten to you.”

The man said, “Yes, I remember very well that one day a young boy brought me this kitten and told me to take good care of him because his mother had died.”

When I saw that orphan kitten, I felt happy because now he had grown big, could eat on his own, and was playing with other cats. That made my heart feel better.

I bought cat treats and gave them to him. The orphan kitten kept looking at me with surprise, as if wondering why I was being so kind to him.

Then I left. I spent some time in the zoo and then went back home.

There were many other animals in the zoo like lions, jackals, wolves, bears, pigs, deer, leopards, elephants, peacocks, penguins, and many others. The zoo is also a good place for recreation.

The people working in the zoo are very kind. They love animals a lot. They feed them on time, give them water, and provide them with places suitable for the weather.

So the orphan kitten stayed there, and I came back. Now he must be even bigger because this happened two years ago.

So I want to give you some advice: Don’t be cruel to animals. They cannot speak to tell you about their problems, so please don’t make more problems for them.
