The Dog that Wandered Far
The Lost Dog
The Dog That Wandered Far
Beneath the fading autumn sky,
Where golden leaves in silence lie,
A wagging tail once graced the trail,
Now vanished like a fleeting gale.
His collar bore a name well known,
A loyal heart, a life heâd shown.
Through years of laughter, joy, and play,
How swiftly love can drift away.
The mornings start with empty halls,
His echo lost within these walls.
The leash hangs still, untouched, forlorn,
A daily bond now weather-worn.
Oh, where did you go, my faithful friend?
To chase the wind, a trail to end?
The open fields, the woods so deepâ
Do you find peace where shadows creep?
I walked the roads at dawn and dusk,
Through rain-soaked grass, through leaves like musk.
I called your name to the stars above,
To bring you back, the soul I love.
Did you find a stream where cool waters flow,
Or strangersâ hands kind enough to show
A fleeting warmth, a passing care,
While I sit lost in my despair?
The fire burns low; the night draws near,
The hours dissolve, consumed by fear.
Yet hope persists, a stubborn light,
A whispered prayer through endless night.
For you are more than just a hound,
A spirit vast, a love profound.
Through every bark and playful cheer,
You made our fleeting lives sincere.
If paths should cross or stars align,
If fate allows, youâll still be mine.
Until that day, Iâll search the skies,
And find your love in firefly eyes.
For though youâre lost, youâre never gone,
Your memory lingers, fierce and strong.
A dog, a friend, a soul so trueâ
The world feels less without you.
So run the fields, the meadows wide,
And know Iâm always by your side.
For bonds like ours canât break with time;
Theyâre etched in hearts, in verse, in rhyme. And if the winds should guide you home,
No longer through the wild to roam,
Youâll find the door still open wide,
Your bed untouched, your place inside.
Each night I dream, and there you are,
A shadow chasing some bright star.
Through forests dense and rivers swift,
Your paws, they wander, hearts adrift.
But even dreams canât hold you tight,
You slip away with morningâs light.
A fleeting glimpse, a whispered name,
And all begins to feel the same.
Yet still, I rise and search anew,
For every sign, each faintest clue.
A paw print pressed in softened clay,
A hint of fur brushed past the way.
And strangers stop, their faces kind,
They see the ache, they know the bind.
âHave you seen him?â I softly plead,
âMy dog, my heart, my every need.â
Their answers vary, some with care,
But none can tell me where you fare.
And so the world feels vast, untamed,
A map with every corner claimed.
Yet somewhere in this endless maze,
You wander free through sunlit days.
Perhaps the breeze carries my scent,
A thread of love, though long itâs spent.
And when at last the fates decide,
To reunite or still divide,
Know this, my friend, my heart is trueâ
Each beat, each breath belongs to you.
For love like ours canât break or fade,
No matter how the years are laid.
So run, my dog, through fields of gold,
Until these arms once more enfold.
And if we meet on distant shore,
Where time and space divide no more,
Youâll wag your tail, and I will say:
âWelcome home, my friend. Youâve found your way.â

We have a pet that got out and we haven't found yet. Its made us very sad and we hope it found a good home, but also know that may not be true. Its very sad.
