The Best Dog Food For Active Dogs
Read to find out my honest experience with raising healthy and happy cattle dogs.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, my family and I adopted a Blue Heeler Cattle Dog mix, Kekoa, who quickly became a beloved member of our family. Kekoa is an affectionate and loving pup that happens to be deaf. Because of this, we decided to adopt another cattle dog to be his ears. We trained our second dog, Kaya, for recall and assist with Kekoa’s auditory challenges. Both Kekoa and Kaya have since become irreplaceable members of our family bringing us so much joy and memories that will last a lifetime.
Aside from his hearing impairments, since he was 1 year old, Kekoa has struggled with food intolerance towards poultry. I struggled to find food that he could tolerate and enjoy, which led me to research his breed's common health problems and potential solutions. As a result, I started looking into healthier food options for him that would meet his unique nutritional needs. My research led me to discover meal plans from Ollie.

My Research on Ollie
High-Quality Ingredients: Ollie fresh dog food is made with high-quality, human-grade ingredients. This means that our dogs are getting the same quality of food that we eat ourselves. The ingredients are fresh, nutritious, and free from artificial preservatives, fillers, and by-products. This is important for my pups because cattle dogs are very high energy and they need nutritious food to sustain them.
Convenient Delivery: All our dog food is delivered directly to our door and perfectly portioned, this means that we never have to worry about running out of food or making last-minute trips to the store. The delivery service is convenient and reliable, and we can customize our delivery schedule to fit our needs.
Personalized Meal Plans: Ollie offers personalized meal plans based on our dogs' individual needs. We provide information about their age, weight, activity level, and any food sensitivities, and Ollie creates a customized meal plan that meets their nutritional needs.
Long story short, we’ve used Ollie dog food for our pups and it's been a total game-changer. Since switching to Ollie, we have noticed a significant improvement in our dogs' health. Their coats are shinier, their energy levels are higher, and their digestion has improved. The ingredients are top-notch, the delivery is convenient, they create personalized meal plans, and it's seriously improved our dogs' quality of life.
Being a Pet Parent to Active Dogs
Being the best pet parent I can be entails more than just providing proper nutrition. A major part of it means making time for adventure and fun. All dogs require consistent exercise, but our cattle dogs are especially energetic, and seeing the difference a positive change in their diet makes is incredible.

Ollie has provided our pups with tons of energy, and luckily, Southern California has tons of opportunities to explore the great outdoors. Their breed thrives on adventure, and they make great companions for hiking, camping, paddle boarding, and other outdoor activities.
I’ll admit, at times it does feel like a lot. Sometimes, coming home from a long day of work I just want to lie on my couch wrapped up in a blanket, but I always know the feeling I get coming back from a long walk or frisbee session is unbeatable. I like to remind myself to look at it as a way to keep myself in check. As I care for them and honor their need for activity, I am also caring for myself and improving my own health.
Work Hard, Love Harder
Being a pet parent is hard work, regardless of the breed. For Kekoa and Kaya, the work required to care for them does not come close to the amount of fulfillment they give me as a pet mom. Cattle dogs are a breed that forms strong bonds to their owners and are known for their loyalty and devotion. This is definitely true when it comes to Kekoa and Kaya. If you're up for the challenge of owning Cattle dogs, then I highly suggest giving these awesome animals a chance.

Whether your dogs have a variety of dietary issues like Kekoa, or eat anything and everything like Kaya, I would definitely recommend starting them on personalized meal plans from Ollie. Seeing their faces light up for dinner time and their increase in energy makes you know you made the right choice. Even if the constant exercise in any temperature can feel like a lot of work, you’ll feel so much love in return, making it all worth it at the end of the day, I guarantee it!
