The baby of the house

The fur-baby vs. the baby

My Cat Anakin

When it comes to having a baby, there are two types: the one you give birth to (that is, if you are a woman) and the fur babies, which I refer to as cats or dogs. Well, Anakin, my cat, a Siamese snowshoe mix, is making it clear he is not happy having his title of the baby in the house taken away. Make yourself a cup of coffee or tea to help you relax and enjoy this story.

Meet Anakin, the fur baby in the house and the biggest mama's boy.

Say hello to Anakin

A little bit about my cat Anakin originally, he belonged to my mother; Anakin was a gift from my cousin who rescues kittens and other cats, so needless to say, Anakin saw my mom as his mother. He was attached to her like Velcro. But that all changed in 2022 when I brought my baby Miriam. My mom loved her granddaughter so much, and she helped me out when she could care for my daughter; Anakin would wait for my mom to sit on the couch so he could sit on her lap. But who would end up occupying her lap? My little girl. Anakin wasn’t too fond of being replaced, to be fair. He wasn’t being replaced.

My mom helping feed my daughter, Anakin is annoyed.

He would always be Mama’s little boy, little baby boy, that is. Wherever my mom would go, Anakin would do his best to stay close to my mom when she was near the baby, and the cat would make clicking and gurgling sounds, almost making it look like he was cussing out my daughter. It was funny. As you can see in this photo, Miriam was lying down on Anakin's cat bed to play in it.

Anakin Annoyed at Miriam

Still, Anakin was annoyed because I guess he thought Miriam would be sleeping on it from now on, but really, she had just been lying on it for maybe just twenty minutes and moved. Anakin jumped on the bed and began to rub his scent on it. I don't think Anakin understands that humans don't leave their scent to claim items; we write our name on it. Miriam loves animals as much as I do. Occasionally, Anakin would come and let me pet him. Just not my daughter because Miriam would pet him roughly; she is only 2 1/2. So he would always run to my mom to get annoyed getting a pet from Miriam. If Anakin saw my baby girl was with my mom, he could sit on my lap and be his other mom.

Anakin and my mom ( we miss her)

Anakin was a great therapy pet because when my mom got sick, Anakin would try to be a comfort companion. Cats are great pets. but sadly, on December 2, my mom passed away due to pulmonary fibrosis. Anakin was by my mom's side on the day she passed away in her sleep. I’m unsure if Anakin has come to terms with my mom being in heaven with my dad. And she isn't coming back. I always see him sitting at the window and come running to the door when someone opens the door. As soon as Anakin sees it's not my mom, you can see his expression, annoyed that his mom hasn't returned. Anakin still hangs around me and tries to sneak into my room to sleep like he did with my mom. I wish he would not kick or claw me to make a spot on the bed cozy for him.

He is starting to warm up to my husband and my daughter because he wants pets and to sleep on my bed. And let's not forget treats. I speak, of course, of tuna puree.
