dog
It's no coincidence that a dog is a man's best friend; they're more faithful than most other animals, and more faithful than many people.
Judy the War Hero
I am an animal lover so it makes perfect sense for me to write this true story about a dog named Judy, who became a war hero and the only canine Prisoner of War (POW). Judy was a Japanese POW for three years. I can’t remember where or when I first read about this dog but it was recently. It is such a heart warming story I would like to share it with you. Most dog owners love their dogs so much that they would do anything for them and in turn most dogs would do anything for their owners. I know this is true in my case. But the things dogs in war do for soldiers is incredible. For example, the dog I am going to tell you a little about was actually responsible for helping soldiers whose ship exploded in the ocean to survive by allowing them to hold on to her body in order to make it to safety. She would even go as far as to warn the soldiers of vicious animals being nearby so they could protect themselves. The soldiers were being transferred to different camps in various locations so Judy had to adapt to different kinds of dangers. There are many dogs who became war heroes but Judy is the only dog to be officially registered as a POW.

Blue's Black Book
The trail of red dust billowed plumes of crimson smoke from behind the old beat-up falcon Ute. Blue was sitting shotgun in the passenger seat, his snout poking out the open window, endorphins invigorated by the wind. His best mate Josie was driving east, toward the desert. It had been a long time since they had taken this trip and Blue was in his happy place. A trip like this usually meant new smells, new places to explore and Josie was calmer, more relaxed, had time to share a pat and just sit with him. They’d sleep out under the stars in the back of the Ute and he’d get to feel like the protector he was born to be.

Saving Darcy
In January of 2012, I began to talk about adopting a dog. My plan was to go to a shelter and adopt and older senior dog as they don’t get adopted as near as much as younger dogs. Also, I thought an older dog would be good for me, a first-time dog mom because I’d never had a dog of my own before (my mom wasn’t too crazy about dogs but she liked cats so we had cats growing up).

Leaving You Behind
Cristina wiped away the beads of sweat rolling down her face. Wearing a hat would have helped keep her cool, but there was no use lamenting it now. Only a few weeds stood between her and well deserved rest. Besides, Anais would be ecstatic to see her garden transformed. With Cristina’s hard work the garden would start to look decent again. With one final tug, her tired hand pulled the last weed from the dry dirt. Right on cue her neighbor’s voice came from the back door that led to the yard.

Napoleon and I
am the soundest sleeper ever, no really…I was married at one time and a tornado warning sounded. My husband attempted to wake me up to no avail, and carried me, asleep to the basement. When I woke up, I was sore and had quite a bruise on my right hip. He told me that he had dropped me getting me to the basement! No, I was not drunk.

Service dogs part 1
Ever since the first service dogs appeared, the access issues became bigger and have changed their form. It is very important to know that the only places that can deny the access of these dogs are surgery rooms and ambulances. These places can deny it only because of security and hygiene. As for all the others: Grocery stores, restaurants, shopping mall, etc. they all have the obligation to accept that the disabled person can come with a service dogs.

Study shows dogs can accurately sniff out cancer in blood
Dogs have smell receptors 10,000 times more accurate than humans', making them highly sensitive to odors we can't perceive. A new study has shown that dogs can use their highly evolved sense of smell to pick out blood samples from people with cancer with almost 97 percent accuracy. The results could lead to new cancer-screening approaches that are inexpensive and accurate without being invasive.

B E F O R E I wish we had met when you were younger. That way, we would have had more time together. Instead, I met you when you were already halfway through your life, and me, only a quarter of the way through mine. I had heard stories about you. About how much trouble you had caused when you were first brought home and how you chewed your way through every post on the veranda, so it had to be replaced with steel. Your stories used to make me laugh and wish that I had been there for those moments.
