Flora: A Clever Dog Story
Disclaimer: This story is based on true events. I am sharing my experience and a real-life story about the journey with all of my pets (Dogs) until now. This story may have emotional incidences, sensitive information, and hearted attachment with all of our pets. Legally I never adopted any dogs but yes I gave shelter and food to more than 10+ dogs in my entire life!

An Emotional Support Stray
I am a dog person! I have always loved dogs even though I’m terrified of small dogs due to a traumatic event where I was bit on the neck by one as a 7-year-old child. Big dogs are my favorite. St. Bernards, Huskies, Wolf mixes, German Shepherds, etc. Growing up I had two dogs, a German Shepherd/Collie mix named Buddy and a big dog named Sampson that to this day I am unaware of what breed he was. As you can see, I love dogs. I never once thought about having a pet cat! I didn’t want a cat! That changed one day in 2006.

Saving Private Peter
"Is this close enough?" -Peter Meet Peter (a.k.a. Petey). He is a two and a half year old, mixed breed miracle. Our story starts when I met him as a patient at the veterinary clinic I was managing at the time. I had just transferred to that location and heard from others that he was the hospital’s “frequent flyer”. They were right.

The Adoption of Coco
It was year two after our move back to my small hometown in B.C. and I was struggling to maintain my Australian Shepherd X, Sweet Bean’s social life. I had bought her from a family in Kanata when I lived in Ottawa. I had tried to adopt from a shelter at the time, but none of the shelters I had reached out to ever got back to me (I took it as a good sign that the shelters were busy with successful rehoming stories). After months of searching I ended up with Sweet Bean. She had had many friends at the dog park in Ottawa but unfortunately due to my living situation I ended up having to move back to B.C. I eventually managed to make several friends for her that she had playdates with on the semi-regular, but her social life had been lacking since our move. I had always wanted more than one dog and I knew it was time to take the leap and get a second dog.

Expanding the Family
My cat, Crusty, a squawky, tiny little black beast, passed away of old age one fall a half a dozen years back. With one kid in diapers and another in the midst of potty training, scooping a new kitty's poop wasn't something I was eager to add back into my daily tasks.

My Fosters
My heart had not been full since making the hardest decision and giving up my dog. Had I know I would be moving in with my boyfriend only a month into the future I would have been able to keep him. I still know it was the right decision and am okay, especially since I get to see him on Facebook all the time, his new dad is great and shares his journeys daily!

She Saved Us
This concept might be weird, but hello. These are the many stories from all the animals that Angela, our human mommy, saved. She has a big heart, patience like a saint, and always looks out for those of us who were different, sick, or thrown away by uncaring people. She means the world to us; we mean the world to her. It’s a good relationship that is never boring! We begin with the good boy, Cow.
