Hello there! My name is Zebulon the Saint Bernard. I have been nominated for EmPAWyee of the Month. Now I happen to know you will be up vewy late tonight reading all the stories and trying to decide whose is best. But I am da best EmPAWyee ever to do da job and here is why. This is my story and I'm sticking to it!
I am mommy's alarm clock at 5:00 AM. She has to get up pretty early to write all da stories. What?! You think those stories write themselves? Now mommy is not a morning person. So first I lick her hand. Then I woof softly at her. If those two sweet gestures do not work, I have to woof a little louder. What?! I have to go potty ya know! Mommy does not drink much coffee, but I am always waiting at the ice dispenser to pick up the stray ice off the floor as she fills her glass of ice water. Helpful, right? I am most pawsitive she appreciates it.
Now everydoggy knows you need breaks from time to time at work, especially when you work from home! So I provide my mommy with frequent breaks in the form of, you guessed it, my potty breaks!! Plus, as long as she is up, why not take a walk break here and there. So I walk over to my leash to give her a helpful reminder. After all, what are pets for anyway? These frequent breaks allow for the creative juices to flow I am here to tell you! She goes back to tapping those keys on that strange machine with a new gusto! It is pawsitively frightful.
When it is time for lunch, I walk over to my food bowl to remind mommy of healthy eating habits for hoomans and beasts. I politely lay at her feet while she eats so as not to come off as begging. Then when she is done, I do the dishes for her! That's right! You heard correctly. I clean the bowl for her before she puts it in the dishwasher. That way, it gets extra clean. It is pawsome! These jobs may seem trivial to you, but they are not for the faint of heart I tell you.
We have now come to the best part of the story. Are you ready? While mommy is writing her stories, I stand real close to her legs. I gently lean in so she can feel my soft fur against her smooth skin. This is how I show my support. I mean, Einstein is at work here, I have to be her biggest cheerleader! If she isn't fully engulfed by her writing, she will reach down and softly pet my head. On a really good day, she will lean down and kiss me as a thank you. That is when I break out the big dog moves. I lick her leg. It is pawsitively divine! Now if that doesn't move you to pick me for EmPAWyee of the Month, you must be made of stone!
We are now nearing the end of my story. When mommy's stories get picked for publishing, who do you think is there by her side to celebrate with her? When she shares them with the world on Facebook, whose face is on her profile picture? It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out who your choice should be. I am pawsitive you will make the right choice. In closing...
1. I wake her up in time for work.
2. I provide her with frequent healthy habits such as breaks, walks, and eating.
3. I am her cheerleader, her rock, her fan, etc...
4. I am present and engaged for all phases in the writing process, including, but not limited to, publishing and sharing.
So my little hoomans look no further. Rest your weary eyes. Choose me for EmPAWyee of the Month and mommy's story for a prize! Thank you for all you do for the literary world. It was pawsitively lovely meeting you all.
Lubs,
Zebulon
