T'is the season of torment and torture. By that, I mean it’s Halloween.
Being a parent I see posts every year about ideas for “family” costumes. You know the cute, coordinating outfits like The Addams Family or Marvel super heroes. Being a pet parent as well I couldn’t help but wonder… What about coordinating costumes for people and their pet.
Naturally I jumped on google. For your reading pleasure, here is a list of my six favorite pet family costumes (with pictures).

First up is a Grimm tale: Little Red Riding Hood.
I saw two different ways that this was pulled off. One way had the dog, a beautiful husky, dressed as Grandma and his/her fur mom as “Red”.

The other had the pupper as the big bad wolf, fur mom was once again “Red” and it added fur dad as the hero lumber jack.

Though I didn’t find a photo I thought of another way to use this theme and include your little hooman or another friend. My idea features the pup, once again, as the big bad wolf, fur mom as Grandma, fur dad as the lumber jack and either your sweet little human or friend as “Red”.
You can also mix it up by having your k9 kiddo dress as either the lumber jack or “Red” and your hubby (or male friend) as the big bad wolf.

Next up are the characters of the very first full color, motion picture: The Wizard of Oz.

In this photo the two pups are dressed as Dorothy and the lion. You can change this up depending on how many people or dogs are going to be out trick or treating. You can add in flying monkeys, the lollipop guild or Glinda, the good witch.

Next on the list is one of my favorite movies, The Addams Family. In this example you have the person dressed as Wendy Addams and the pup as her brother, Pugsley. This will be even cuter if your companion is actually a pug.

I can also picture an Addams family theme with a big long haired dog portraying Cousin It, which makes me really wish I had a fluffy puppy.

If you haven’t seen the movie Little Shop of Horrors you probably won’t understand this one. Quick run down: the movie was released in 1986. In the film a flower shop assistant is secretly in love with his co-worker. During a total eclipse, he discovers an unusual plant he names Audrey II (named after his dream girl) which feeds only on human flesh and blood.
The movie is good for its time and is a horror classic. Thus gives us Audrey and Audrey 2, who’s pot displays the famous quote.

Of course if you are male, you can dress your self as Seymour instead or add a third person to your dress up party.

Next, Cat n the Hat with his troublesome henchmen, Thing1 and Thing2. I personally wasn’t a fan of the “new” Cat in the Hat movie but I still think the costume is cute and super easy and cheap if your on a budget.

Speaking of easy and cheap… nothing gets any easier or cheaper than our next costume.
Beanie Babies!
With just a bit of paint, some scissors, card stock and ribbon you can have your very own life sized Ty Beanie Baby for Halloween.
