I never knew what love at first sight was until I saw him. I mean, I always knew I was an animal person, but come on. I thought love at first sight was just for people falling in love, not finding your perfect pet. That was the day I adopted my cat, Milo.
It was not planned at all. I woke up that morning, and prepared for my new college roomate to move in. Then, all of a sudden, I thought, "what if, I got a kitten?" So, I texted my new roomate my thoughts. She said "YES, get a kitten, PLEASE!"
Growing up, my parents raised my brothers and me to rescue animals, not to buy them so... with that said, I went to the Humane Society and looked into adopting one of the kittens they had available. I had nothing to do all day, so I took my time and spent time with all of the cats in the cat play room. They were all too cute not to cuddle!
That's when I laid eyes on him. The MOST GORGEOUS kitten I EVER saw! He had a silver undercoat and black tiger stripes with a white milk mustache on his face. How so precious! He even had a tuxedo white fur chest, and little white fur boots. Want to know what the Humane Society named him? Well... I'm going to tell you anyways. Mr. Boots. Yea... I thought so too. Haha!
I remember looking at his information card, while holding his tiny body close to my chest, as he purred loudly. His card said he weighed 2 pounds and was 2 months and 5 days old. He was brought in a few days prior to my visiting him.
When I looked down at him, in my arms, his legs and his head were hanging off the side of my arms. He was sound asleep in my arms. It was so adorable. I had instantly fallen in love with this little tiny kitten, and I knew that from the way he laid in my arms asleep, he had taken a liking to me.
I gently put him back in his kitty cubby so I could let the lady at the front desk know I wanted to adopt him. We were not allowed to take them out of the cat play room.
When I went to tell the lady which cat I wanted, I had forgotten what his name was, so she came with me, so I could show him to her. We went to his kitty cubby and he was gon, we looked around the room and found him in a man's arms. That lady kindly told the man that the kitten had a new owner, and he looked at the kitten, then me, and handed me the kitten with a sad face and said "oh, ok, well, he will have a loving home with you. he is so sweet." and i said "thanks." and took my new kitten in my arms.
Once the paperwork was all completed, the Humane Society asked if I wanted a photo taken of me and my new kitten. I said "Absouletly!" I still have that photo to this day. Yes, it is framed! Oh, I miss the days when he was a small little baby.
Once I brought him home, I met my new roomate and her dad. They loved him as much as I did. (They still spoil him every Christmas-Haha!) I asked my roomate what she thought I should name him and she helped me pick his name. We both named him Milo. We thought it fit him perfectly.
