My Best Friend
I attended the University of Toledo (go Rockets!) in Ohio. Though I graduated Cum Laude, my proudest academic achievement was that I had the worst attendance rate of any student on campus. If I didn’t have a reason to miss class, I would invent one. Not that I’m suggesting that as a course of action for everyone, but I was a decent student who found most classes snooze worthy. Sadly, my absences rarely involved girls on campus. I was a senior, wrapping up my history degree. This is the story of a day I had a good reason to miss class.

Von Bricklebrow House
Von Bricklebrow House The dog stopped running when he got to the fountain in the middle of the park. By stopped running, it didn’t mean he stopped moving. Now, he was swimming in the fountain, his big, hairy, black, furry body leaving a muddy trail in the water.

The Super Agile, Long-limbed Spider Monkey of Costa Rica!
The "Central American Spider Monkey" or sometimes called, "Geoffroy's Spider Monkey" is found in many of the tropical forests throughout the Central America area, including, of course, Costa Rica. These beautiful monkeys are one of the most agile species! Their name comes directly from their appearance. . they have disproportionately long arms and legs. . and a very long tail, all tools used by them to enjoy a wonderful, energetic life!

My Kitties
Between my fiance and I we have 5 cats. Our oldest cat is Pepper. Pepper was a stray from New York City. She had a litter of beautiful babies and they were all taken in by a nonprofit. We found Pepper and took her immediately. It took her 10+ years but she finally got comfortable with us. We took it slow and we let her get used to us on her terms. We never pushed her to come to us and it paid off. Now she cuddles with us every night. She is also the healthies 20+ year old cat we have ever seen.

The Miracles In Our Lives
Let me start by saying...I had dogs my entire life, and I never liked cats! As a matter of fact I hated cats! I hated them for the same reason all cat lovers love them. They are sketchy, crazy, arrogant and stubborn. They walk around like they own the damn joint, and god help anyone who tries to pet them when they don't want you too, you could lose a hand! They treat their owners like staff and are always knocking things off of everywhere...and on purpose no less! Getting into things and places they shouldn't! What's to love about them!

The War Hero's Cat
The story I’m about to tell is not mine. But rather my husbands’ who is a proud and quiet man. I don’t mean quiet in the literal sense. He’s one of the few people I know who can wax lyrical at the drop of a hat and has an anecdote for every for every situation. I mean quiet about himself personally. To really know the man is rare, and it’s a gift. To know what makes him tick, his passions, desires, dislikes. He’s the kind of guy everyone and no one is friends with.

Started From the Bottom, Now It’s Memory Foam Mattresses and Nighttime Cuddles
This is Mason. He is an American Pit Bull Terrier, and my best friend. When Mason was six months old he was found wandering the streets alone with a ruptured cruciate ligament. He was taken to the shelter, in need of extensive medical treatment. Sadly, many shelters are so overwhelmed with unadopted Pit Bulls that they aren’t able to keep ones that show up with serious and expensive injuries. Thankfully, the Treasure Coast Humane Society was not one of those places. They chose to save his life without thinking twice about the cost.

She was Meant to Live
It was a rainy day in May, when I was in 5th grade. For a few weeks now I had been excitedly waiting to get my second puppy, a lab. Traveling far isn't an issue when the nearest major city is 65 miles away from you. Such was the case when I was going to pick up my new dog. It was a free-for-all essentially, as you got to pick whichever puppy you wanted. We made it to Saint Maries but many things were immediately amiss. These puppies that were supposed to be eight weeks old were much younger than that, no puppy parents were to be found, and they were running amok. It made my parents and I uncomfortable.
