The Noodles
Everyone laughed at me at first and they did so without any understanding. How you could possibly want that animal? They would say with disgust. I payed no mind to them as I saved for a year just to afford the start up costs. Who knew that buying an exotic animal would cost so much? I did hours and hours worth of research to try and understand everything I could before ever taking the first steps of getting one. Being 19-years-old I had essentially no experience supporting anything other than myself, so I wanted to be as prepared as possible to take on such a responsibility.

Guacamaya
I was one of the ones who found the birds. Hours, days, weeks spent trudging through wretched Honduran tropical forests. Too long getting sucked dry by mosquitoes, hacking through shrubs and vinery, and the occasional close call with venomous snakes. Coiled tightly around themselves under large leaves or wrapped around thick tree branches. They were everywhere.

An Uneasy Truce
The dense forest swallowed me. The blanket of the tree canopy above blocked even the smallest sliver of light from the full moon. The dark, damp soil pounding beneath my poorly clad feet consumed my legs and feet so much, that I feared I might forever become a part of the forest. The battle between man and nature would continue in another de-evolution from body to dirt.

Animals in Zoos
Animals living in zoos can be a good thing depending on the circumstances. They can be good for educational purposes. It gives children and families the opportunity to see how these amazing exotic creatures live and react to their surroundings. There have been many studies to back up the fact that people learn from seeing these animals in action, but there is much controversy in the way that it is done.
