From Creepy to Captivating
How My Four Tarantulas Helped Me Build a TikTok Following

When most people scroll through TikTok, they’re swept up in dance challenges, laugh out loud skits, or glamorous beauty tutorials. But my For You Page? It’s all about eight legs, fuzzy exoskeletons, and a whole lot of misunderstood charm. I’m the creator behind The Tarantula Twins, a TikTok account that dives into the captivating world of exotic pets - specifically, our tarantulas. What began as a quirky hobby has blossomed into a vibrant community, in which I’ve met some awesome people. Forget the spooky stereotypes; my videos showcase the beauty, personality, and surprising gentleness of tarantulas.
The Stars of the Spider Show:
Meet the fabulous four who steal the show on The Tarantula Twins: Venom, Ghost, Loki, and Cali - my tarantula stars who prove eight legs are better than two! Venom and Ghost are Grammostola pulchripes, or Chaco Golden Knees, hailing from South America’s grasslands. These terrestrial beauties sport stunning golden-striped legs that shimmer under light, making them TikTok royalty.
Then there’s Loki and Cali, Avicularia avicularia, or Pinktoe tarantulas, from South America’s rainforests. These arboreal acrobats bring a lively, spontaneous energy to our home. Their agility and curiosity shine in videos showcasing their treetop inspired enclosures.
Changing the Narrative Around Tarantulas:
Tarantulas are often misunderstood. I use my platform to educate viewers on their behavior, natural beauty, and proper care. Whether it’s showcasing enclosure setups, slow-motion feeding clips, or simply highlighting their unique personalities. Tarantulas get a bad rap think horror movie props or “deadly” creatures. I’m here to set the record straight. Through my TikToks, I debunk myths like “tarantulas are aggressive” (spoiler: most are docile!) or “they’re high-maintenance pets” (they’re easier than a goldfish!). My slow motion feeding clips show their precision and grace, while enclosure tours teach viewers how to create a cozy tarantula home. My goal? Replace fear with fascination and inspire responsible pet ownership.
Why This Content Matters:
In a world full of trending noise, there’s something powerful about going niche. My audience isn’t just here for spiders they’re curious, open-minded, and love seeing something different on their For You Page. I’ve connected with exotic pet enthusiasts, arachnid lovers, and even people who admitted they were terrified of spiders - until they met mine. TikTok is a sea of trends, but it’s the niche corners like tarantula enthusiasts, bonsai growers, or vintage typewriter collectors that keep it vibrant. My platform shows that you don’t need to chase viral dances to make an impact. By diving deep into what I love, I’ve found an audience that’s just as passionate. In a world of algorithm-driven noise, niche content is a reminder to stay curious, embrace the weird, and connect over what makes us unique
What’s Next?
The Tarantula Twins is just getting started. I’m planning to launch a ‘Spider school’ series on TikTok, breaking down tarantula care for beginners with step-by-step guides. I’m also dreaming of collaborations with exotic pet brands to create tarantula friendly products, like sustainable substrates or stylish enclosures. As my platform grows, I’m excited to collaborate with brands that support exotic pet care and education. But most of all, I’m focused on creating content that makes people say, “Wait... did I just fall in love with a spider?”
