Cat of the Building
When I was young and we were staying in a big building, a cat came to hide inside the entrance to the building we lived in and no one noticed, and the building was big and had a large number of children.
A girl says one day when I was young and we were staying in a big building, a cat came to hide inside the entrance to the building we lived in and no one noticed, and the building was big and had a large number of children. But I noticed the cat's presence, so I went down and stalked at the place where I hid, and suddenly the cat started to make sounds as if it was in pain. I didn't know why she was doing this, and suddenly I found small pieces of meat next to her, because I didn't know then that the cat was pregnant, and I didn't realise that at that moment she was in pain because she was going to give birth.
When I found that the kittens were moving, I screamed and then went to tell my mother, and she told me that the cat definitely needed food, so I took some food for the cat and some water and put it in front of her.
My mother continued to put food for the cat for several days and the cat was sitting in this place to breastfeed her young children, then go out and come back again, until one of the residents of the building noticed that there were small cats living in the building.
He called the building guard and ordered him to take the cats out in the street and throw them in a far place so that they would not bring fleas to the place. Indeed, when the mother cat left the place, the guard took the kittens and threw them in a far place, but he left one cat who was hiding in a narrow place, so the guard did not see him. When the cat came back and didn't find her cubs, she started to meow repeatedly and hysterically, and I was looking at her and she was sad and I didn't know how to help her.
What added to my sadness was that one of the residents came out and asked the guard to carry the cat away, because it causes inconvenience to the residents. Indeed, the guard carried it by force because it was resisting him, put it in a box, took it away from the house and then left it. I was saddened by what had happened to the cat and its children, and the meowing, which was like a shriek, never left me, and the next day I went down to see where the cat lived with its cubs, and I knew I would not find her, but I came down nonetheless.
Surprisingly, I found the kitten that the guard left sitting alone, afraid and sad, in the same place where he lived with his brothers, but this time he was alone. I hurried and told my mother that I had found one of the kittens still around, and the mother gave her food for him. I continued to feed him for several days, but unfortunately one day on my way back from school I encountered a sight that terrified me.
The poor cat fell victim to some children from the residents of the building, who discovered his place, and thought that he was like a doll and started playing with it, and throwing it at each other.
The children would let him run and then chase after him, they even took him to one of the upper floors and threw him down, and the poor cat was afraid and trying to escape in vain, I screamed and tried to keep them away but in vain. So I ran home crying and told my mother what had happened, so my mother ran towards the cat and threw the children, picked up the kitten, and decided to take it to her in the house.
The cat was tired and hungry and showed signs of illness, and did not want to eat, so my mother brought a basket and put him in it, and tried to put him in a warm place and feed him, and I sat next to him and tried to feed him over and over again, but to no avail, and the next day the cat died. I was so sad and started to cry, so my mother comforted me and told me I had to bury him. My mother wrapped the cat in a clean towel and my mother and I buried the cat in the garden in front of the house, but the memory of this poor cat remained in my memory for a long time after that.
