One of the greatest fantasy questions in life that we may be asked of, is "what one superpower would we love to possess in life, if it were reality?" From the array of films and fictional characters, there are so many of these superpowers we would ultimately love to possess, so it makes it a hard question to narrow it down just to that prized one. Would we want the capability of being able to fly? Would we want the capability of being invisible? Would we want the capability of possessing superhuman strength? Would we want the capability of being able to hear other people's thoughts, or read other people's minds? Would we want the capability to time travel? I could keep going on and on listing the many superpowers there are, and boy would it be awesome if this fantasy could actually be turned into reality, or what? Sadly for us, it's just that though, fantasy. Although, having said that, we actually do all possess a superpower, and the funny thing is, many of us don't even know we possess it. These may not be superpowers that give us the ability to fly, be invisible, or travel through time, but they are gifts that we possess within us, which stand us out from other people, and highlight our uniqueness. We can do things, achieve things, perform things, or understand things, better than most other people can. We perhaps may even be able to transfer our experiences of the past, into revelations of the future. In fact, some of the greatest superpowers even lie within our characteristics, behavior, and attitude.
When we face times of hardship, sorrow, failure, and adversity, we all have different ways in which we handle it. For the majority of people, they sort of curl themselves up into a ball of misery. They take the option of playing the victim of circumstance, they seek sympathy, they seek compassion, and they seek attention. They feel sorry for themselves, they complain about how much their life sucks, and they seek out other people to resolve their issues for them. Then there are those who are a bit more understanding that such circumstances and events are normal in life, so they accept it, maybe complain a bit, otherwise they do the minimum required to resolve the issue, and move on. Finally, there are those who embrace it, and it's this group of people who are in the minority. They embrace such times, seeking to learn from them, to discover the opportunities which lie within them, to step out of their comfort zone to resolve them, and then to actually use them to their benefit in the future. It sounds strange indeed, but so many people leverage off the hardest times of their life to create success, happiness, wealth, and fulfillment. Their hardships and failures are what forms their story, and their story becomes their superpower. They have separated themselves from the crowd to go on and do what most other people would dare not do, or attempt, because they have the strength and courage to deny themselves from becoming a victim of circumstance. We all go through times of hardship and adversity in life, and after overcoming it and fighting on, as time goes by, we reflect back on these times and acknowledge they have made us mentally stronger. There's a massive difference though between simply battling on, like most people to do, in comparison to using such times to our advantage and benefit, or even better, to end up helping and inspiring others in life. That's where one superpower lies.
As I mentioned above, another superpower can be found within our characteristics, behavior, and attitude. It's sad to think that the characteristics of willpower and motivation are predominantly absent within most people. Anything that requires effort, hard work, energy, and long term commitment, especially on tasks and actions that are difficult, boring, strenuous, and arduous, most people will do whatever they can to avoid doing them, or at a minimum, at least procrastinate over them. It's why most people fail to achieve any life transforming goals. Yep, most people will always look to do the easier and more leisurely things in life as an alternative, such as watching television, sleeping in, or going out with their friends, even in the knowledge that these activities are non-productive. Those who have willpower, drive, determination, and motivation, they have a steely commitment to achieving their goals, and keeping themselves fit and healthy. They have the strength and resilience to overcome any failures, and the resistance to repel the temptation and enticement of easier and more leisurely activities, in order to continue progressing towards their goals. They are prepared to sacrifice short term, for long term gain. What's more, they have the courage to focus on the task at hand, rather than listen to the criticism, ridicule, judgement, and negativity, that others heave upon them. They also have the courage to take risks in life, to make decisions and execute actions that have the potential for failure, but know they must make in order to succeed. These examples of courage are limited to a very small percentage of people worldwide, hence why they are superpowers. Courage, willpower, motivation, resilience, patience, perseverance, and determination, are all examples of characteristics that can be classed as superpowers, because very few people are prepared to demonstrate them.
Finally, two of the greatest superpowers we can possess, are generosity and selflessness. To have the ambition and drive to help others in life, to support them, to encourage them, to inspire them, and to uplift them, is something worthy of what a superhero would do. To be able to resist continually being focused on oneself, being focused on money and greed, focused on getting our own way, and focused only on personal gain, to instead be focused on helping as many people in life as possible, through kindness, compassion, generosity, and love, that is a rarity amongst civilization nowadays, and therefore makes it a superpower. Such a superpower doesn't mean sacrificing our own goals, or pleasing others, instead it's about dedicating some of our time and money to help others in need, and there are plenty of people worldwide that would be overwhelmed with happiness and gratitude in being the receiver of such acts of kindness and generosity. That's truly making a positive difference in this world, and that's rescuing those in need, exactly what we would expect a genuine superhero would do. So you don't have to be Superman, Spiderman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Iron Man, or Captain America, to be a superhero. To be a superhero in life, you only need possess courage, patience, generosity, kindness, compassion, selflessness, willpower, motivation, determination, perseverance, and resilience. It may sound like a long list, but such characteristics are easily obtained, by simply making a choice. Are you prepared to be a superhero? Discover your superpower today, and make a positive difference to your life and the lives of others.
