A question that many ask every day, why do people only read books? Why did the charm and passion for reading disappear?

To be honest … if I remember the last time I read in high school, because I was practically forced to read. If I didn’t read that book, I wouldn’t be able to get a bachelor’s degree.

Books can make us more vigilant, because those who do not know much can easily believe anything, while reading broadens the horizon of knowledge and develops discernment. By reading, we can know the past (historical, religious, political, etc.) as individuals or as part of a nation or culture, and so we can better understand the present, which leads to a more accurate view of the future ( personal and collective).

Years passed, but I didn’t read much to read, an interesting article and that’s about it. But honestly I’m sorry I didn’t, if I read 5 minutes every day I was smarter and maybe I was my own boss.

But it’s a word “never too late” and I admit I read it again. And I like it, I like it because I learn a lot, and I change my mind. I don’t read much, but 20 minutes every day is good at first.

Reading forms a certain structure of the intellect, and information, of any kind, is placed on this structure and connected to it, enriching it even more. If this structure does not exist, it is as if you want to start building a house on the roof — it is not possible. But this structure (of thinking and knowledge) on which information is based (of any kind) is much more solid and orderly when it is built in a classic, analog (by reading), and not just digital (on the Internet) way…

Once the books have been chosen and bought, the problem of time remains. If reading is placed on a list of priorities, it can eventually become a (healthy) habit. For a time dedicated to a reading that nourishes the soul and the mind, of course, there is a need for some temporal landmarks, which everyone needs anyway and which, I think, everyone can establish.

In our busy lifestyle, our attention is focused in different directions each day as we try to do more than one task at a time. For example, we often find ourselves in a situation where we try to divide our time between solving a task at work, chatting with people via Skype, checking email or Facebook, and communicating with colleagues. All of these multi-tasking activities can lead to high stress levels and low productivity. When we read a book, all our attention is focused on what we read. Our eyes and thoughts are immersed in the details of the story. If you read for at least 20 minutes each day, you will be amazed at how focused you will be during the day.

In the same vein, I would add: we sometimes read more or too much, but we do not meditate on what we have read; we sometimes read too little, but we feel we know a lot; we read, perhaps, in one direction and do not realize that such a reading has unbalanced us; we read rubbish and we have forgotten the landmark books … So let us read with discernment, temperance and pleasure, and make from the books we read roots, valuable landmarks and beautiful dreams (to be fulfilled).

Reading keeps us busy and also helps us to spend our time in the most favorable way possible. Not only does it distract us from the problems we have, but it also protects us from monotony. Books are a great source of recreation and are a great way to get rid of boredom. And as they create new and unseen worlds, you will be much more relaxed and revitalized.

I enjoy reading … :)
